NEW DELHI: The Sahara Group has expressed strong criticism towards the upcoming series titled “Scam 2010 – The Subrata Roy Saga”, labeling it as an “abusive and grossly condemnable act”. The company has also indicated that it is considering “suitable legal action” against the creators of the series.
The series, promoted as the “dust-to-diamonds story of maverick businessman Subrata Roy,” is the third installment in filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s acclaimed “Scam” series for the streaming platform Sony LIV. This follows the success of “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story” and “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story”.
Announced on Thursday by the director, the new chapter aims to delve into the life and controversies surrounding Subrata Roy, the founder of the Sahara India Pariwar. Known for his influential presence in the business world and the legal troubles that followed, Roy’s story is expected to attract significant attention.
In their statement, the Sahara Group has vehemently opposed the portrayal of Subrata Roy in the upcoming series. The group asserts that the depiction is misleading and tarnishes the reputation of Roy and the Sahara India Pariwar.
“The upcoming series ‘Scam 2010 – The Subrata Roy Saga’ is not only abusive but also grossly condemnable. We are contemplating suitable legal action against the makers to prevent this misrepresentation,” the statement read.
