NEW DELHI: Renowned filmmaker Tarsem Singh’s latest creation, “Dear Jassi,” has been selected as the opening film for the esteemed Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) 2024 edition. Scheduled to run from June 27 to 30, the festival promises a diverse showcase of cinema, featuring 20 films encompassing seven narrative features, twelve shorts, and one docu-series.
“Dear Jassi,” a poignant tale of love and social barriers, has garnered international acclaim during its journey through various film festivals worldwide. The narrative follows the love story of Jassi, a Canadian-born Indian, and Mithu, a rickshaw driver from a different social stratum, showcasing the complexities of societal norms and personal aspirations.
Starring Pavia Sidhu and Yugam Sood in the lead roles, “Dear Jassi” encapsulates the essence of cultural diversity and emotional resonance.
